The Test de Connaissance du Français (TCF) is a test of general French which allows non-native French speakers to obtain a simple, effective and precise evaluation of their skills in comprehension and expression. There are different types of TCF exams. Some are directed at candidates wishing to assess their level of proficiency in French for immigration applications to Canada or Quebec, for French citizenship applications or to go study in France. Description & Structure
TCF Canada
The Test de Connaissance du Français for Canada (TCF Canada) is aimed at all individuals aged 16
years old and above, regardless of their nationality or mother tongue, who need to certify their level of French as part of the process
of economic immigration to Canada or to obtain Canadian citizenship.
The TCF Canada consists of 4 modules to evaluate your level of proficiency in oral and written skills.

TCF Québec
The TCF Québec is aimed at all individuals 16 years old and above, who want to submit an immigration application to the Québec Ministry of Immigration, Francisation and Integration. French tests and exams are mandatory element of the process to obtain a certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ), which is a step towards being granted a permanent visa.
The TCF Québec consists of 4 modules that assess general French language skills.

TCF Intégration, Résidence et Nationalité
The TCF Intégration, Résidence et Nationalité (TCF IRN) is a test recognised by the French Ministry for the Interior and is indispensable for anyone who wants to apply for French nationality, a long-term residence permit, or validate A1 level as part of the OFII citizenship process.
TCF IRN is designed to measure the level of oral/written comprehension and oral/written expression in French.

TCF Tout public
The TCF Tout public is the language level test set by the French Ministry for National Education, Young People and Sports. It assesses
general French language skills for those whose native language is not French and who want to assess their level of French for academic
(students, interns, etc.), professional (employees or future employees, etc.) or personal reasons.

⏳Validity
The TCF is issued by the French Ministry of Education and remains valid for 2 years.

The price of the TCF Canada full exam is $390.

📅 Test results
Your results will be communicated by email 2 to 3 weeks after the exam except for December and August. The virtual certificates will be sent directly by the exam centre to the email address you registered with.
✉️ Official invitation
Once your registration complete, you will receive an email from us a week, at the latest, before your exam, with the instructions and details. The exam starts at 10:00.
✒️Registration
Your registration will be completed once we receive both your form and payment.
🪪No exam if
You won’t be able to enter the exam if you don’t have the ID you signed up with on the form or if you arrive after the exam
officially began.
(Note: On the day of the exam, we will take a picture of you to confirm your identity.)
⌚ No refund if

✅ Responsibility of AFE
The Alliance française of Edmonton (AFE) is not grading the exam and cannot be held responsible for the results obtained by the
candidate.
If you failed the exam, you may take it again 30 days after the last time you took it.

Step 3 - Detail Submission and Payment

Step 4 - Registration Confirmation
Upon successful submission of the form and payment, you will receive an email from us a week, at the latest, before your exam, with the instructions and details. Don't forget to check your spams and junk emails! If you have any questions or didn't receive the email, please contact us at tcf@afedmonton.ca.
Step 5 - Preparation
Option 1: Prep courses (not a language course). We offer 2 prep courses in collaboration with PrepMyFuture:
- On your own ($65): you will have access to a dedicated website with mock tests, grammar and vocabulary lessons and pointers for the test…).

With a teacher ($210): you will also have access to this dedicated website, but we will add 2 hours of private course
with a teacher (who also happens to be a certified TCF examiner!) to give you an opportunity to work on the Writing and Speaking parts
